TRAIN and BUS

 


The railway Station

          Nha Trang - is a stop on the main line between Hanoi and Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City). The railway station in Nha Trang is located near the cathedral in the northern part of the city. Although Saigon and Nha Trang are only 450 km apart, the trip takes takes about 7 hours or more. The average speed of the trains in Vietnam is 70 km.

There are plenty of classes for train journey to Nha Trang. The trains go from south to north and are called "Reunification Express" trains. There are several trains daily, departing from Monday to Sunday. The timetable for trains between Saigon and Nha Trang comes from the official website of the Vietnamese Railways, but it is wise to check that nothing has changed. SE trains are the best and TN trains are slower and older. During the holidays like Tet, there are extra trains.

Saigon to Nha Trang by the "5 Star Express" or the "Golden Train".

There is another train for the trip from Saigon to Nha Trang. It used to be a private, luxurious tourist train called the "5 Star Express" from Saigon to Nha Trang, but this no longer exists. Another company has taken over and they operate under the name "Golden Train". For more info and bookings, you must go to the DSVN Vietnam Railways website. The trains have names: SN1 and SN2.
These are high quality trains. They have a private departure lounges at the stations, luxury cabins, as well as modern and comfortable and stylish seating. The trains are equipped with LCD TVs, several bars and bathrooms. The train departs daily at the following times:
Saigon - Nha Trang: 06:15 (arrival 13:33)
Nha Trang - Saigon: 14:55 (arrival 23:18)

By bus to Nha Trang

Bus is another option. You have more rest and less space, but it's probably safer because you're traveling with little people just entered the bus. There are several bus companies and most of them have sleeper buses. Each bus company has a slightly different kind of beds, some are more comfortable than others. During the day you can sit in a chair; at night there is usually a bed with a blanket and a pillow. Buses are air-conditioned.
