  The Rest

"A beautiful name for this region, Sin Ho hides many interesting things to discover. I can advise everyone. When I wandered around on the "roof" of Lai Chau, my footsteps seemed tireless. Because my eye can always see beautiful vistas everywhere. And that on the Sin Ho plain."

Road to Sin Ho

The Sin Ho Plateau is approximately 40 km - from the center of Lai Chau. On this lies the picturesque town of Sin Ho. It is well worth a visit, especially for those who want to discover a beautiful landscape and cultural diversity of ethnic groups. Surprisingly, Sin Ho attracts a small number of tourists, as the difficult access roads scare both Vietnamese and foreigners, which is described as “a princess sleeping in the mountains”.

Sin Ho is a fairly high mountainous area with cool weather, so you can come to Sin Ho in the hot summer days for relaxation. It is not far to reach Sin Ho, but you have many winding roads with steep sections. There is an opportunity to see ethnic women carrying bamboo baskets to their farms or fields.
The surrounding mountains rise majestically and you drive through forests. The environment is constantly changing; from hairpin bends at enormous heights to overgrown mountains, palm trees and small country roads. In the villages you see women sitting along the road who sell fruit and vegetables. The many children greet you with enthusiasm, until you come to an open plain: the plateau.

It can change again in a short time. There are clouds, rain and sunshine. When it rains it can change in a short time and a brilliant sun can come out. The town of Sin Ho is located on the highest peak of the Sin Ho Plateau, more than 2000 m above sea level, and is surrounded by green mountain ranges with clouds. After a rain shower, Sin Ho looks deserted and gloomy, with simple houses and just a few shops and restaurants.

Winding road with terraces.

Many travel to Sin Ho for the market, which is held every Saturday and Sunday. This colorful market is considered to be the busiest with different kinds of items, such as bananas, vegetables, fruits, technological equipment, household items ... Many kinds of orchids are also sold here. Visitors can of course buy souvenirs in a large souvenir department with chains and suspenders on the market, among other things.
The Sin Ho market is not only large, but also colorful. In holidays, the Red Dao, H'mong, Phu La, Sila, Lao, Cong people come together in their colorful traditional clothes. It is wonderful to see such a colorfully dressed company. People come to the market on foot or on horses or motorcycles.

It is the place where local people from the surrounding areas gather. On Sunday mornings, the market also draws people from remote villages, making the atmosphere much noisier and busier with different colors.
Those who leave Sin Ho for about three kilometers will arrive in a fairly quiet village surrounded by a beautiful backdrop of mountains and hills. There boys sit on the back of buffalo, who walk around there. You see, he plays and women weave in front of their house.

If you go hiking in the valley of the Sin Ho plateau, you will be amazed by the mountain peaks with their white clouds, while at the same time the valley is completely yellow by the sun. The terraced fields, which prepare the harvest season, also add more color, as if it were a beautiful painting. When you are in the right season, the peach and mango orchards add even more color.
