THE DRAGON
2024, 2012, 2000, 1988, 1976, 1964, 1952

10th of February

The only mythological creature in the Chinese zodiac, the dragon epitomises the yang (male/warm) energy. Those with the dragon as their animal sign are lively people who are straight to the point, proud, full of enthusiasm and have great passion for life. They are dynamic and stand out in a crowd as they are flamboyant and tend to leave a blazing trail behind them, igniting passion in some, but also scorching others who fall to ride the wave with them. Dragons are also profoundly loyal to family and friends and think nothing of laying their lives down to protect their brood. Although sincere and honest, dragons are known to act first, think later, and suffer in leisure.
They can never keep their mouths shut, indulge in idle gossip and tend to believe they can take on just about anything. They can be eccentric and egotistical, demanding others to laugh at their jokes or laud that their actions. Intelligent and charismatic, but the dragon seldom applies its wisdom carefully and chooses to flirt with imagined grandeur instead.

There are five types of Dragons, each with different characteristics:

Type of Dragon   Year of Birth   Characteristics

Wood Dragon   1904, 1964   These Dragons live a quiet life with surpluses. If entrepreneurs, their businesses are successful. However, their family and friends are not as dependable.

Fire Dragon   1976, 2036   These Dragons are intelligent and social. They have a breakthrough in the middle years and enjoy prosperous later in life.
  xx   xx
Earth Dragon   1928, 1988   These Dragons are positive and cheerful. They do not fear enemies and do not bully the weak. They surround themselves with supportive people and create loving families.

Gold Dragon   1940, 2000   These Dragons are kindhearted but speak bluntly. Talented and strategic, they enjoy success and wealth.

Water Dragon   1952, 2012   These Dragons work hard throughout life and gain reputation and fame. They sometimes overthink and worry, but will smoothly pass through the decades.

Famous people born in the Year Of The Dragon:

Boris Johnson, Kamala Harris, Robert Lewandowski, Nancy Pelosi, Vladimir Poetin, Tony Fernandes, Azizulhasni Awang, Boris Johnson, Rihanna, Adele, Al Pacino, Alexa Vega, Alexandre Pires, Bruce Lee, Calista Flockhart, Courtney Cox, Diana Krall, Fats Domino, Freddie Prinze Jr., Freud, Gregory Peck, James Gardner, Joan of Arc, John Leguizamo, John Lennon, Jorge Drexler, Jose Canseco, Keanu Reeves, Laura Harring, Liam Neeson, Martin Sheen, Mary Louise Parker, Matt Dillon, Nicholas Gonzalez, Nicolas Cage, Raquel Welch, Raul Julia, Reese Witherspoon, Ricardo Arjona, Russell Crowe, Salvador Dalí, Sandra Bullock, and Shirley Temple.

Health: Taking the hardworking nature of dragons into consideration, they are healthy in general. They may be stressed and suffer from periodic tension, for they like to embrace challenges and take risks. Old people born in a Chinese zodiac dragon year should pay more attention to liver and gall, blood, intestines and stomach, while the middle-aged and young people should care more about their skins. Yoga or taking a walk would be an effective way to keep healthy, as these activities can be good for their minds as well as their bodies.

Career: Dragons like to embrace challenges and take risks. Jobs that allow them to test themselves are good choices. Some good careers include: film producer, director, broker, priest, journalist, teacher, inventor, manager, computer analyst, lawyer, engineer, architect, and sales person.

The Best Love Match:

  Rat, Monkey and Pig

Dragon and Rat: Best match in the Chinese Zodiac. Both are ambitious and adventurous. While the Rat will welcome the Dragon's dominance, the Dragon will admire the Rat's intelligence.
  xx

Dragon and Monkey: This is an exciting union. While the Dragon appreciates the Monkey's ingenuity, the Monkey admires the Dragon's courage and strength. It is worth to remember that the Monkey is the only Sign that can fool the Dragon.

Dragon and Pig: Excellent complementary marriages. The dragon appreciates the Pig's support, and the Pig is sympathetic and understanding.

Words of Caution:

The Dragon tends to have frequent conflicts with the Dog. Both have strong and unyielding characters that happen to be hard to relate to each other. The Dragon is too proud to accept the Dog's caustic comments and critical approach. The righteous Dog will not give up and compromised.

The date of the Tet Nguyen Dan is determined by the Chinese calendar, a lunisolar calendar. The same calendar is used in countries that have adopted the Confucian and Buddhism tradition and in many cultures influenced by the Chinese. Tet Nguyen Dan starts on the first day of the new year containing a new moon (some sources even include New Year's Eve) and ends on the Lantern Festival fourteen days later. This occurs around the time of the full moon as each lunation is about 29.53 days in duration. In the Gregorian calendar, the Tet Nguyen Dan falls on different dates each year, on a date between January 21 and February 21.
