Mui Né Fish Market

"The market in Phan Thiet city center is not like the one in Mui Ne and there is no "fish market" in the town that is similar. The Phan Thiet market is an open area just over Le Hong Phong bridge with lots of small shops and a few restaurants surrounding an open plaza.".

Fish Market at the beach

Mui Né - means "sheltered peninsula". It is an idyllic, laid back resort with everything you need to recharge the battery. Palm trees, white sand beaches, great seafood. Since Mui Ne is a fishing village, a visit to the fish market is a great way to experience the culture and to get an insight into the lives of the locals.

Every evening the fishermen of Mui Né go to sea to catch fish. It's a long night, where they try their catch fish in their poorly equipped boats. They do this also, when the weather is bad. At dawn the fishermen come back with their fish.

Compared to other big cities, it is a small fish market. The Fish Market will take place on the north side of the beach of Mui Ne. It is best to visit the fish market early in the morning between five and seven hours. It is vibrant and chaotic times, when the local fishermen come to shore to sell their nightly catch to the residents of Mui Né.
You get the chance to see how the fish is unloaded, cleaned, sorted and then sold.

You can expect to see fishing nets filled with seafood, buckets full of fish, shells, which are strewn everywhere. The fish is sold by the women (of fishermen) or family.
Local merchants, owners of restaurants and street vendors will approve the fish and buy. The women exchange mutual seafood, so they have something to their liking.
Scattered along the coast you can see colourful boats in the sparkling blue water in the background. You can make beautiful pictures of the colourful boats in the sea.

Boats on the beach

Mui Ne beach is ideal for kiteboarding and windsurfing. The pioneers of these two sports discovered the beach about ten years ago and for a long time this area was one of Vietnam's best kept secrets. Now the secret is unraveled.
