Lang Biang Mountain

"From the peak we came the same way down back to the hut where we reached the paved road. Just a few steps after the hut downhill on the paved road we found the shortcut that the travel guides use. We didn’t look for the shortcut for the ascent because we thought it’s always harder to find the way uphill and we had no idea what it would looks like and where it starts.
Downhill it was pretty easy to follow the path. It’s a very beautiful path through the pine forest and there are no jeeps :-). On the way down we meet a group with a guide and were happy that we did this on ourselves. The shortcut way ends/begins a few meters above the big „lang biang” writing."

Lang Biang Mountain

The Lang Biang Mountain - is one of the two highest mountains in the plateau. Only 12km from the centre of Dalat. Lang Biang is one of the two highest peaks of Lam Vien Highland: Lang Biang (2,167m) and 2,287m high Bidoup Ban. This is often regarded as the roof of Dalat. When you're standing on the top of Lang Biang Mountain, you can see the Golden Stream and Silver Stream, or observe Dalat, which looks like a lush green valley with two pieces of silver silk (the Golden and Silver Stream).

The mountain is well known for its legend, a romantic story about a man. The name of the man is “Ho Biang” and a woman is called “K’ Lang”. They fell in love with each other, but their love was doomed by the enmity between the two tribes, so they couldn't marry. The couple decided to commit suicide together. After their death, they were immortalized in this mountain with its two peaks named after them.
The second version says, they got married and then moved onto a mountain to live. Unfortunately, when Biang caught a critically illness, K’lang had to come back to the tribe to ask for help, the people here shot him with a poisonous arrow. However, it was Ho Biang to be shot since she had shielded her husband. K'lang could not suffer such loss, he cried and his tear made up a big stream which is now called Dankia (the Golden Stream).

Through the woods

On the Lang Biang Mountain you do camping, exploring the natural flora, bird-watching. You can also enjoy the unique culture of ethnic minority groups are recommended activities for tourists coming to Lang Biang. Also, Lang Biang is an ideal place for adventurous activities like mountain climbing, conquering high peaks, paragliding and trekking. “Thung lung Tram nam” (Hundred-year valley) which lies at the foot of the mountain is regarded as an entertainment and ecological tourist site.
For those who enjoy the convenience of transport, car and motorbike are absolutely suitable to climb up the beautiful path to Lang Biang peak. Moreover, trek-goers wouldn’t be disappointed with such a challenge. The up-to-the-top-hike takes from 3 to 4 hours.
