Con Dao Map

""The first ride on Con Dao by scooter today already gave a very positive impression of the island with its wild coast, beautiful beaches and mountainous interior, and an encounter with two macaques.
The Con Dao archipelago has not yet been discovered by mass tourism. The archipelago is also difficult to reach. Only one propeller plane with a total of 68 passengers on board can land here. Or via a 12-hour boat trip on board a freighter. A paradise, a gem with a gruesome history. But that is something for the coming days. Now first celebrate the Chinese New Year! Chuc mung nam moi!’"

Con Dao Map

Few tourists know how to find Con Dao. - In the Netherlands there are few providers and that makes Con Dao a real gem to relax for a few days.
Don't expect nightlife. A beer after dinner on a small stool with the locals is what you can expect.
The only village on the island, Con Son has only 5000 inhabitants. The Con Dao archipelago has sixteen islands, most of which are no more than a number of rocky outcrops.

Today it is a tropical paradise. Typically such a place where travelers plan for three days, but ultimately stay for three weeks. Snorkeling, diving, walking, hiking or just lazing on the beach are everyday activities.

Con Dao is known as the most beautiful place for diving in Vietnam. There are about 20 dive sites with beautiful coral reefs. There are also plenty of bays where you can snorkel nicely. You will not only find beautiful coral here, but also many fish and sea turtles. Put on your goggles and discover the wonderful underwater world around the islands.

Diving enthusiasts are also at the right place at Con Dao; many call it the best dive site in Vietnam! Diving is possible all year round around Con Dao but the best diving period is from March to September; you have the best view.
At Con Dao you can spot loggerhead turtles, pass sharks and rays in these rich waters. Bamboo sharks are a hallmark of Phu Quoc, so make sure you work your dive master hard for a sighting. Seagrass meadows around the islands are also said to have the elusive and nearly extinct dugongs (manatees).
Most of the islands of Con Dao belong to the Con Dao National Park. For divers a great place to discover the underwater life and for hikers a beautiful area for trekking.

Map of dive sites

The remote Con Dao Islands has the largest population of sea turtles in Vietnam and is home to many protected nesting sites for them. Every year, these sea turtles travel from the Philippines to Con Dao to breed. Once the turtles arrive in Con Dao, the female turtle lays about 100 eggs at a time. The nesting season of the Con Dao turtle runs from May to October and peaks from June to September. There are about 400 sea turtles every year.
The most popular islands to see the turtles are Bay Canh Island, Tre Lon Island, Cau Island and Tai Island. Bay Canh Island, the large island right across from Con Son Island, is the most popular island. If you want to see sea turtles laying eggs in Con Dao, you must join a Con Dao Turtle Tour, which is arranged by the Con Dao National Park office.
