Poshanu Cham Towers

"These Towers are from the Champa Kingdom and date back to the 8th and 9th century, they are perched on the hillside with great views of the coastline and Phan Thiet.
The main tower is dedicated to Lord Shiva, they have great long history.
I really enjoyed the visit and strongly recommend it to all."

Three Cham Torens

Poshanu Cham Towers - located on the hill Ong Hoang (Mr Heaven Hill), about 7 km northeast of Phan Thiet City. The towers are one of the most valuable and important cultural relics of the Champa Kingdom. In addition to three large towers, there was once a temple, but is more than 300 years underground. Inside the main tower is still visible a symbol of male and female genitalia, which were worshiped by the Cham. They are called Linga and Yoni.

This group of Poshanu Cham towers were built in the second half of the eighth century by the Champa's. The Indians and the Cham worshiped here the God Shiva. In the 15th century, a tower was built to worship Princess Po Sah Inu, the daughter of King Para Chanh. This is the reason why these towers are called Poshanu.

This is the only architectural work of the Cham Phan Thiet. It was built 1200 years ago. There are only three remaining towers (main tower, medium tower, and small tower). Inside the main tower, the stone altars of Linga and Yoni. They are the symbol of Shiva with lots of carved and sculpted patterns. They reflect the existence and growth of Cham reproduction.

In a number of documents from the late 19th century, there was to see a stone bull on the mid tower, but these stones bull disappeared over the years.
Nowadays these towers belong to the Cham villages Ma Lam Tri Ham, and Ham Phu. Every year people from other places to Poshanu Towers to perform religious ceremonies. The monument was renovated in recent years and restored. The number of visits and ritual performances of the Cham has increased.

A ceremony

During Kate festival at the Poshanu Cham Towers, the atmosphere is exciting. The Cham group still has important ritual customs and festive activities. Tourists come from all over the country come to see it. They enjoy the traditional performances of the Cham.
Poshanu Cham Towers is recognized as a national architectural and artistic monument. The ruins are only for their views worth a visit.
