MONKEY ISLAND
- Khi Island -

"On day 2 we use the anyway to Monkey Island. We left the boat, continued on land, stopping at Cat Ba National Park to do a short hike to the top.
After a joint lunch, we had a free afternoon program. I lay down on the beach, swimming a bit. At 3.30 there was the opportunity to kayak: I lay down on the beach, swimming a bit. At 5 o'clock there was the opportunity to do a short trip to watch monkeys. I lay down on the bed, chill out a bit. In the evening we had a delicious barbeque, played some pool and went to bed quite early."

This Macaque keeps an eye on everything

The “Monkey Island” - was formerly known as Cat Dua Island because it grows a large number of lush wild pineapples. The pineapple fruits look good here, but cannot eat. The locals use them to make traditional medicines. The fishermen here usually pick up fruits for the women to cook or dry. Monkey Island is a mountainous, sandy island, and the beach is formed by millions of waves and winds that wash up sand, rocks, coral, shellfish, shells, shrimp and crabs. Monkey Island is located about 5 km from the city center of Cat Ba. Monkey Island has a circumference of about 3 km. The island is part of the National Park Cat Ba.

Cat Dua Island is today called Monkey Island by the locals, thanks to the presence of several dozen monkeys. Almost all the monkeys were brought here by the rangers. So they are quite used to locals and tourists. They even grab food from the hands of tourists and can bite when provoked.
However, it is the presence of the monkeys that makes the island special and famous. As a result, a large number of tourists are tempted to a trip to Monkey Island.
The monkeys come to the coast to "greet" the boats. The monkeys on Monkey Island are macaques and they have a long tail.

View from the top of the mountain

There is only one way to get to this beautiful island: by boat. It takes about ten minutes from the dock in the floating fishing village of Cai Beo.
Cat Dua Island is also an ideal meeting point for swimming with blue water and white sandy beaches formed from coral debris. Monkey Island Cat Ba has 2 arched beaches, namely Cat Dua 1 Beach and Cat Dua 2 Beach. This is an ideal location for swimming for tourists while participating in Cat Ba tour.
Many tourists visit Monkey Island as part of a cruise tour package booked in Ha Long. However, you can also book a full-day trip if you are staying on the main island of Cat Ba.

Cat Dua 2 Beach has some accommodation on the island. Monkey Island Resort has 30 thatched-roof bungalow style rooms. Each house is a room with air conditioning, hot water, satellite TV and free internet. The beach has “a garden” of thousands of square meters with trees such as wild pineapple, maple, white apple tree ... and many different birds.
The food is tasty there, the drinks cheap and the scenery is spectacular. Some kayaking is available and there is a path to hike to the top of the mountain, where you can take beautiful pictures of Lan Ha Bay with the hundreds of small islands rising from the blue water, along with white sand beaches.
Ideal for relaxing, scrambling up the mountain, swimming in the sea and then enjoying delicious seafood on the beach.

Clamber up

Cat Dua Beach 1 (for the public) is longer than the others. This is an ideal swimming spot, because the sea water here is clear and blue. Here is a thatched-roof restaurant and visitors to the beach can sit here, rest and have a drink. In addition, some other services are offered, such as swimwear and kayak rental.
Millions of visitors flock to Monkey Island every year, as they are drawn to the beautiful limestone mountains, created over thousands of years by the hands of Mother Nature.
