FERRY CAT BA

"Cat Ba is not as hectic and big as Hanoi and feels a lot calmer. Along the quay there were also many restaurants and bars, which gave you a cozy atmosphere. I think we will enjoy ourselves here in the coming days.
After the drink and the pool we went back to our room and here I skipped with Jaap. We also watched a movie, secret live or pets, and then we went to sleep."

Slowboat to the islands

Cat Ba - is the largest island in the bay and about half of the area is covered by a national park, home to the highly endangered Cat Ba langur. This golden-haired langur is rarely seen as fewer than 60 specimens are believed to survive in the wild The vast majority of people take a pre-booked tour from Hanoi on a tourist boat, although this is probably the slowest, least flexible, and relatively expensive way to visit the island Cat Ba.
It is cheaper and more flexible to get either on a non-tourist boat in Halong City or via Haiphong. From Haiphong there is a speed boat that takes the day trip (the last around 4:00 PM) from Pha Binh harbor. Locals pay exactly the same for the same ride. There are several sailings per day. The price is printed on the ticket, but some people sell fake tickets. So pay attention!

Tuan Chau is an island off the coast of Ha Long and it is connected by a long bridge to the mainland. This is significantly closer to Cat Ba and the price of the crossing is therefore cheaper. This is the most convenient way to take the ferry from Tuan Chau port. They sail 4 times a day to Cat Ba. The number of sailings depends on demand. A day's first and last ferry always goes.
It is a very popular option to take this ferry to Cat Ba Island. The ride is quite fun, because it gives a nice sea view of the area. Ferries depart daily from Tuan Chau Ferry Terminal and it takes approximately 2 to 2.5 hours to get to Cat Ba Island. The luggage is of course included.

Is this beach too small??

The view of Halong Bay from the ferry is very beautiful. The scenery is one of the most beautiful in Vietnam, so you have to sit on deck and focus your eyes on incredibly natural formation. The second floor of the ferry is a great place to take a selfie as it provides a beautiful backdrop. Many locals use the ferry as a convenient means of transportation.

The ferry is a very easy way to travel with comfortable seats, onboard toilets and a bar where you can buy some food. To book your ticket, you can contact the ferry company directly online. The crossing takes about an hour.
You will arrive on Cat Ba at Phu Long pier, in the port of Gia Luan. From the harbor at Phu Long pier, motorcyclists wait to transport passengers from the ferries to the city (or the 15 km to Cat Ba National Park). There is also a public bus at the pier, but the ride takes longer to get into the city. There should also be taxis. If not, one of the ladies who sell snacks at the pier can help you.

Have a nice swim

Once you are in your hotel at the harbor in the capital, everything can be reached on foot, including the beaches. You can explore the island with a motorcycle taxi and be transported. You can also rent a motorbike per day at various places in the city of Cat Ba. Mountain bikes are also available for hire.
The population of Cat Ba is about 16,000, but the island receives about 2.5 million tourists every year.
